Passengers are entitled to compensation for flights delayed by three hours or more upon arrival, but only for flights operated by EU/UK-based airlines or flights departing from an EU/UK airport. Compensation varies by flight distance and delay length, applicable when the delay is within airline control and not due to extraordinary circumstances.
Passengers on flights cancelled less than 14 days before departure may receive compensation. This applies to flights operated by EU/UK-based airlines or flights departing from EU/UK airports. The compensation amount depends on the flight distance, the notice period, and the timing of alternative flights provided by the airline.
If you are denied boarding on flights operated by EU/UK-based airlines or flights departing from EU/UK airports due to overbooking, you may be eligible for compensation, similar to delays and cancellations. This right applies when you have checked in for your flight on time.
Under the Montreal Convention, passengers are entitled to compensation for lost, damaged, or delayed baggage on international flights. The compensation amount is subject to limits set by the Convention and may cover expenses incurred while waiting for delayed luggage, or the value of the contents in lost or damaged luggage. To claim, passengers must report the issue to the airline within 7 days for damaged luggage, and within 21 days for delayed luggage, from the date the baggage was supposed to arrive.
For missed connections leading to arrival at your final destination 3 or more hours late, compensation is available for flights within a single booking involving EU/UK-based airlines or flights departing from EU/UK airports. The compensation rules for flight delays apply, provided the missed connection was due to reasons within the airline's control.
Passengers experiencing significant schedule changes made by the airline within 14 days of the scheduled departure may be entitled to compensation, similar to flight cancellations. This applies to flights operated by EU/UK-based airlines or flights departing from EU/UK airports. The entitlement to compensation depends on the extent of the change and its impact on your travel plans. Passengers should be offered alternative transportation or a refund if the schedule change is not acceptable.
